NATIONAL CADET CORPS

National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the biggest youth organization functioning under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. It inculcates discipline and sense of unity and patriotism in youth and trains in defense preparedness. MGM Model School has started NCC unit, ‘Kerala Lakshyadeep Group One Kerala Battalion’ on 7th July 2022 with NCC cadets from the junior wing of class VIII. It functions as a self-financing scheme with 2 years of service. After completing 2 years of service in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), cadets are awarded a certificate. This certificate is a recognition of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to the NCC. It can also be beneficial for their future careers, as it demonstrates their leadership skills, discipline, and sense of responsibility. Students are given training on Fridays from 3 PM to 5:30 PM with basic military parades, small arms training, drills, community service. Cadets also participate in camps and expeditions, developing leadership skills and a sense of patriotism. The Associate NCC Officer of MGM is Mr. Binu Kumar C.

M.G.M Model School, Ayiroor, Varkala is one of the most prestigious projects of the Aykia Pradayini Trust founded by Dr. P. K. Sukumaran, Educationalist, Philanthropist along with a set of selfless, dedicated social workers in 1983. The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the school were inaugurated by Shri. R.L. Bhatia (the then Kerala Governor) on 2nd October 2007 in the presence of Late Shri. Varkala Radhakrishnan (M.P) and Shri. Varkala Kahar (M.L.A). The valedictory of the Jubilee was graced by His Eminence A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. This community-school aims at providing the best possible quality education to the students within an educational frame work for their holistic development. The school is progressing under the leadership of Trust secretary Dr. P.K. Sukumaran, an educationist and a visionary each year; numerous new initiatives are implemented to meet CBSE norms and conditions. The School management prioritizes students overall development to prepare them as global citizens. The innovation Centre three digital libraries, a Maths 3D Zone, a butterfly garden, and a Swimming Pool have been constructed to foster diverse skills in children. The learning process is enhanced by innovative teaching methods and supported by modern tools and techniques in assessment and evaluation The school is progressing under the leadership of Trust secretary Dr. P.K. Sukumaran, an educationist and a visionary This school is affiliated to The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The School prepares students for Secondary School Examination (SSE) and for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) of the CBSE.
